Haiku contest!

NOTE FROM SCOTT: Thanks to everyone who entered the Panthers Haiku contest! There were so many great entries that it was very difficult to choose from among them. A three-person judging panel decided the winner – I wasn’t among the judges.
All the judges were Panther fans and are very familiar with the haiku form – they have 40 years of experience teaching English between them.

The winner of the contest is EMILY FORD TATE OF CONCORD, who wrote the following haiku:

Geese and footballs fly
Fans flock as Panthers stalk prey
Cheer them to a win!

Emily got two free tickets to the Panthers’ home game against Atlanta on Oct.3, 2004 courtesy of ScottFowlerSports.com!!

I selected a sampling of the best entries below. I was really impressed with the quality of these efforts! Read on for some good haikus and, occasionally, some good laughs as well.

Also, a special thanks to Ms. Richeson’s second-grade class at Boiling Springs Elementary in South Carolina. Among them, they submitted 12 haiku poems. You can read those excellent haikus by clicking here!

Now here’s some of the other great Panther haiku entries this year:
